Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Wayne County Department of Public Services is sponsoring a Household Hazardous Wast Collection.  The next collection date is Saturday, June 18, 2011, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Henry Ford Community College, 5101 Evergreen Road, Dearborn (just north of Ford Road)

Examples of items they will accept:

  • Household paints, stains and dyes
  • Floor wax, floor care products, carpet cleaner
  • Furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, stain removers and solvents
  • Pharmaceutical Waste (NON-Controlled substances only)
  • Nail polish, glue
  • Fertilizer, lawn and garden chemicals, pesticides
  • Antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline
  • Automotive batteries and dry cell batteries
  • Fluorescent bulbs (all types)
  • Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors
  • Mercury thermometers, thermostats and elemental mercury

Electronics Recycling:

  • Computer CPUs, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice
  • Cell phones, fax machines, copiers and televisions.

Only household generated products from Wayne County residents will be accepted.
