The mission of the Hamtramck Income Tax Department is to:

• Administer the Income Tax Ordinance fairly and efficiently
• Provide excellent service to taxpayers, tax return preparers and other customers
• Maximize receipts for the resources expended

Strategic Goals

• Continued growth of income tax receipts.
• Increased compliance with the Income Tax Ordinance.
• Easing the compliance burden through implementation of forms design changes, forms

           simplification and more efficient compliance methods.

• Increased efficiency in administration of the Income Tax Ordinance.
• Efficient and effective customer service.

Duties

 

• Collect and account for income tax receipts.
• Process income tax returns, refund overpayments and assess tax deficiencies.
• Provide taxpayer service.
• Run collection, compliance and enforcement programs.
