RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE HAMTRAMCK CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE

FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2008

WHEREAS, the Michigan Open Meetings Act (Public Act 267 of 1976, as amended) requires:

(1) A meeting of a public body shall not be held unless public notice is given as provided in this section by a person designated by the public body. 

(2) For regular meetings of a public body, there shall be posted within 10 days after the first meeting of the public body in each calendar or fiscal year a public notice stating the dates, times, and places of its regular meetings. 

(3) If there is a change in the schedule of regular meetings of a public body, there shall be posted within three days after the meeting at which the change is made a public notice stating the new dates, times, and places of its regular meetings. 

(4) For a rescheduled regular or a special meeting of a public body, a public notice stating the date, time, and place of the meeting shall be posted at least 18 hours before the meeting.

(5) A meeting of a public body which is recessed for more than 36 hours shall be reconvened only after public notice, which is equivalent to that required under subsection (4), has been posted. Nothing in this section shall bar a public body from meeting in emergency session in the event of a severe and imminent threat to the health, safety, or welfare of the public when two-thirds (2/3) of the members serving on the body decide that delay would be detrimental to efforts to lessen or respond to the threat. 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Hamtramck, Wayne County, Michigan that: 

FIRST:

All meetings of the Hamtramck city council will be held in the city council chambers of the Hamtramck city council chambers on the second floor of the Hamtramck Municipal Building at 3401 Evaline, Hamtramck, Michigan unless otherwise noticed,  

SECOND:

Meetings will be held on the second (2nd) Tuesday and the fourth (4th) Tuesday of each month, except when it falls on a holiday: then it shall be held on the next day. The dates for calendar year 2008 will be as follows:

February 12, 2008

February 26, 2008

March 11, 2008

March 25, 2008

April 8, 2008

April 22, 2008

May 13, 2008

May 27, 2008

June 10, 2008

June 24, 2008

July 8, 2008

July 22, 2008

August 12, 2008

September 9, 2008

THIRD:

All meetings shall commence promptly at 7:00 p.m. 

FOURTH:

The city clerk is instructed to post the appropriate notices, as required by state law.
