Firefighter
The City of
Hamtramck is seeking qualified individuals to create a new two year List of
Eligibility for Firefighter positions. As firefighters retire or
positions open in the department, individuals are called in for interviews
from the listing. The order of ranking on the listing is determined by your
written Conference of Western Wayne test score. Extra points are given for
military time served.
Summary
Description
Responds to
fire and medical emergencies and other related service requests as part of a
fire fighting company.

Carries out a
variety of tasks relating to setting up fire fighting apparatus
v
Controlling
fires and saving lives
v
Providing
emergency medical care using defined procedures and practices.
v
Responsible
for performing routine maintenance and cleaning of fire equipment and physical
facilities of the fire station and any other duties as assigned.

Eligibility

US citizen or
permanent resident alien

18 years of
age or older
v
High school
diploma or approved equivalent
v
Successful
completion and certification from Fire Fighter I & II of the Michigan State
Fire Fighters Training Council
v
Valid
Emergency Medical Technician license
v
Valid US
drivers license and verifiable driving record (Applicants must have a valid
Michigan driver’s license at time of appointment)
v
Valid written
test from Conference of Western Wayne with a minimum score of 75% (major
ranking key on the eligibility list)
v
Valid passing
certificate of CPAT - Physical ability test from Conference of Western Wayne
v
Must past
background investigation
v
Must past
medical examination including physical, vision, drug screen and psychological
evaluation.

United States citizenship or US permanent residency

Copy of
driver’s license and drivers report (ex: from the Michigan Secretary of State)
